Net Metering LaunchThe Prime Minister of Pakistan, on January 3, 2018, addressed the nation on the occassion of net-metering launch ceremony. Although NEPRA approved the net-metering regulations in September 2015, it initially faced some resistance at different levels of implementation. Moreover, the community at large was not aware about the concept of net-metering.

SBP GIZ BonnAlready this year in October, the State Bank of Pakistan adopted Green Banking Guidelines, which urge all national commercial banks to reduce adverse effects of their institution on the environment and the society.

BSW SQF MoU SigningThe German Solar Association (BSW-Solar) and the Solar Quality Forum (SQF) have concluded a cooperation agreement. At the heart of the partnership, which was signed on 2nd June 2017 at the InterSolar Europe in Munich, is the expansion of solar energy in Pakistan. The partnership between associations and the resulting cooperation with Pakistani companies with regard to high-quality products opens up new sales opportunities for German solar companies in a promising market.

Parliament House PVCity Authorities, in December, installed an 870kW solar PV plant in Islamabad's Fatima Jinnah Park. The authorities installed 3,400 solar panels on an area of 2.5 hectares, at a cost of $4.8 million.

Energy DataThe World Bank recently published an open data website, providing access to datasets and data analystics relevant to the energy sector. The website also provides useful tools to present the data in a comprehensible manner.
