City Authorities, in December, installed an 870kW solar PV plant in Islamabad's Fatima Jinnah Park. The authorities installed 3,400 solar panels on an area of 2.5 hectares, at a cost of $4.8 million.

The plant has been installed with a grant from China, and consists of batteries to store energy for continuous supply of energy in the park. The plant would supply electricity to the park, Capital Development Authority, and Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation, both located within the vicinity of the park. The authorities believe that solar would continue to have an increased share in renewables and projects like this would continue to be replicated in the future.
