2nd Stakeholders Meeting on PGREFPGREF, on October 27, 2016, held its Second Stakeholders Meeting inviting private sector companies, public sector and research organizations to join the discussion on how to promote Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency in Pakistan.

bswGerman Solar Association (BSW) is expanding its international network by partnering with other solar associations around the world. BSW signed a cooperation agreement with Pakistan Solar Association in December 2015, and at InterSolar Europe, in June 2016, it signed agreements with India, Mexico, and South Africe also.

Wind energy pictureAsian Development Bank, with Triconboston Consulting Corporation, approved a loan of $75 million for the establishment of a 150MW wind farm in Jhimpir, Sindh. The project is aimed at completion by the end of March 2018, with Sapphire Textile Mills and Bank Alfalah being the sponsors on the other side.

SBP LogoState Bank of Pakistan, on June 20, 2016, updated its refinancing scheme for renewable energy dissemination. According to the updated scheme, the State Bank would refinance all renewable energy projects (solar, wind, hydro, biogas, bio-fuels, bagasse cogeneration, and geothermal) in the following two categories at a subsidized rate:

 PEECAPunjab Energy Efficiency & Conservation Agency (PEECA) calls for proposals for Building Energy Simulation Software.Through this program, Government of the Punjab intends to carry out energy audits of public buildings including hospitals etc., training of Master Trainers for future Energy Audits in Punjab and Energy Management System establishment for Punjab to conserve energy to reduce burden on the National Grid.
