wapda logo1The government plans to cut power outages from 6 hours to 3 hours a day in urban areas of Pakistan and from 8 hours a day to 4 hours in rural areas. However, the areas where the majority does not pay the bills would have more frequent load shedding.

IMG 5558 LQThe German Embassy inaugurated the German Foreign Office’s “Germany’s Energy Transition: Touring Exhibition” in Islamabad on September 22, 2016, as part of its Energiewende initiative. The exhibition took place from September 22-24, 2016, and showcased Germany’s renewable energy infrastructure, the history of the energy transition in Germany, and gave indications how other countries can improve their energy supplies from renewables.

Parliament House PVA net-metering seminar was organized by the Parliament House on 5th September 2016 at the Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS) in Islamabad. The select group of participants, mainly experts from the field, was given an overview of net-metering as a new model for the promotion of solar power in Pakistan.

NEPRA, on 8th September 2016, cancelled the generation license of a 330MW coal power plant being set up by Chinese Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) in district Jhelum as the company claims upfront tariff to be lower.
