Study Tour: Capacity Building in Modern Irrigation Management using Solar Energy

In Oct 2019 in Pakistan and Germany

Pakistan’s economy relies heavily on its agricultural sector which accounts for almost 20% of the gross domestic product and employs around half of the population.

A capacity building project, initiated by GIZ Pakistan, the institute ideas into energy and implemented by a consortium of water and energy experts from Germany, (8.2 Renewable Energy Experts, eclareon, and Irriport) aims to build capacity for Pakistani stakeholders in modern irrigation management powered by solar energy.

A delegation trip to Pakistan and a study tour in Germany will be organized for Pakistani experts from the agricultural sector. Furthermore, a market analysis about the potential for solar powered irrigation systems in Pakistan will be conducted and made available free of charge from November 2019 on this website. The market analysis and study tours aim to establish three pilot projects in Pakistan using state-of-the-art solutions for irrigation in agriculture powered by solar energy from Pakistan and Germany.
